Six Reasons Why To Go on Retreat

June 20, 2019 Joyoga / in Yoga Blogby

As it is getting colder outside and I snuggle up inside with blankets, a heater, my favourite Spotify playlist, tea and some warming home-cooked meals, I begin to plan and prepare for the upcoming Bali and India retreats.

Sometimes life gets away with us. Because of that, it is important to pause, reset and appreciate what life is offering to us.

Whenever I get off balance, I now understand the hints my body and mind are giving me. Luckily, these days I have a routine and a number of tools in place that allow me to respond with nourishment, self-care and introspection rather than distraction, ignorance and resentment. Sometimes a nap, walk or laugh with a friend are just what I need, however at other times it might need a little more than that. From my own experience, I find retreats to be a wonderful way to hit the reset button and return back to oneself.

Here are my six reasons why I would personally choose to go on retreat:

1. It brings me back to connection. In a matter of days, a retreat can bring me back home to myself. I feel at peace, calm and like the world is in order. Retreats are a great way to reconnect to yourself and with each other – yoga and new experiences can enhance this in unimaginable ways.

2. Through a regular yoga practice, I am able to come into my body, release stagnation and balance my energy. Being in my energy means being in my power, which radiates from inside out. It is an amazing feeling with profound impacts on all aspects of life.

As part of the Body Soul Retreat, we will go deep to support and liberate your body with two daily yoga practices – one energising practice in the morning (Hatha, Dynamic Flow) and one calming practice in the afternoon/evening (Yin, Restorative).

3. It brings new and strengthens existing relationships as we come together with like-minded people, sharing a wonderful experience. It is incredible what we can tap into when we come together and are fully seen and heard.

As you give yourself the time to connect with ‘your Self’ in a way that is loving, compassionate and accepting, you can open this space to the people around you by creating similar experiences through connection.

4. Giving body, mind and spirit a break through nourishing, healthy food, rejuvenating activities, revitalising body treatments and healthy sleeping patterns.

In Bali, you will be surrounded by lush jungle, open rice-fields and winding walks with views of the mountains, giving you an opportunity to let go of the stresses of the day-to-day life. You will also receive two treatments, providing balance and restoration to your skin, relaxation to your body and wellbeing to your mind.

5. Not worrying about a thing! Travelling is fun and adventurous; however, it can also be exhausting. This one won’t be – you will be looked after and cared for. You don’t have to worry about things like scheduling, reservations, commutes, waiting in lines, finding locations. From arrival to departure, you will be bathing in the support we offer to you.

6. Having some fun! We are all just human beings, wanting to live, connect and explore. You will be given plenty of time to just be or take part in our magical excursions: visiting waterfalls, popular walks, Mandala Art Therapy and a cooking class are going to invite a sense of fun and creativity whilst diving deep into the beautiful Balinese culture.
