Scorpio New Moon: Six Tips on how to Survive a Time of Transformation and Rebirth
November 24, 2017 Joyoga / in Yoga Blogby

Last Saturday, on 18 November, we experienced the Scorpio New Moon*. What a beast! This one is all about transformation and rebirth – about shedding our skin and stepping into the new.

No one ever enjoyed shedding skin. So, this isn’t a comfortable process and from talking to students and different people in my life, I know that for many this is a deeply personal and transformative time.

The days around a New Moon are usually highly charged and full of potential, during which ‘the universe’ listens to our thoughts, wishes, longings and heartfelt desires.

Specifically, what does the New Moon in Scorpio mean?

The New Moon cycle in Scorpio offers a powerful opportunity for healing work. As a water sign, this moon points to the emotional realms and the gifts waiting beyond the surface of our awareness – if we are willing to go there.

This can, of course, be challenging. However, challenging experiences deepen our wisdom. Remember where life happens? Exactly – outside of our comfort zone. There we can find more joy, more presence, more gratitude and more power.

The sources of wisdom also suggest that, if we want intimate relationships – with ourselves or others – we must be brave enough to take down barriers, be open and trust. They say being defensive won’t work, but being ourselves will.

Scorpio’s energies are deep, powerful, emotional, purging, transformative, intense, investigative, suspicious, mysterious, hidden and revealing.

It is the sign of death and rebirth. Therefore, it can be dark and fearful, which sometimes is exactly what we need to face.

This prompted me to Google: ‘Scorpio New Moon when is it all over’. Apparently, the effects of the Scorpio New Moon last for four weeks up to 18 December and the best time for making a fresh start is during the first two weeks of this new moon cycle – which is now.

What can I do to support myself during this time?

  1. This is a good time to check in with yourself. Take stock of what works well and what doesn’t work so well in your life – and then take action.
  2. Identify what you would like to create in your life. Have your intentions (sankalpas) serve as a positive stepping stone on what you would like to invite and manifest in your life.
  3. Write your intentions in a journal.
  4. Peel back the layers to gain a deeper understanding of who you really are and what lessons you are yet to learn during this time. Don’t skip the detail, try not to move into distractive patterns – be attentive and mindful instead.
  5. Establish or stick to all the practices that ground you – meditation, yoga, running, surfing, ocean and moon gazing, hiking in nature, mountain biking, talking to and laughing with loved ones and so on.
  6. Allow time for self-care rituals and moments of stillness to listen to inner guidance. From that space, nature will always have us move in the right direction.

As always, I hope it goes well for you this week. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

*NB. I’m not an astrologer – never have been and probably never will. However, I am a Cancerian woman who finds herself deeply affected by and attracted to the moon cycles and/or meanings. That’s a personal choice and not based on any scientific evidence. All the above is a personal collection of words and meanings from the following sites:

MYSTIC MAMMA

Forever Conscious

Conscious Reminder

Collective Evolution

All of these are great resources that are part of my regular reading. However, I don’t take responsibility for anything published on those sites, nor do I claim any of those concepts as my own.
